Okay, the request is a little premature given that my first novel won't be on bookstore shelves until next Fall--but what I really meant is: give me a Nobel writer's book to read any day. I'm excited to read the books of Jean-Marie Gustave Le Clezio, this year's winner. I've put my holds in at the local library--whoo-hoo I'm number one.
I was excited to learn that his writing is very much influenced by his Mixed experience. Born in France, he came of age in Nigeria, and since then, he's traveled widely. "The French language," he is quoted as saying, "is perhaps my only true country."
