Admit it. You can't help but get caught up in the nationalistic fervor. Go USA. Go USA. Me too. I also root for the Danes because they are my people. And I also root for the Olympic Athletes of the borderless Mulatto Nation.
One of my favorites Rikke Roenholt (a Danish track star--mother from Denmark, father from Ghana) didn't qualify. Very bummed about that. But there is still Andrew Howe, a biracial track and field athlete, and Lolo Jones, America's own super-fast hurdle runner.
Howe, who represents Italy, is the son of an African-American mother (a former Olympic hurdler herself) and an Italian white father. Howe is expected to win a medal in the long jump. (For a very yummy, but risque Vanity Fair cover photo of Howe, click here.)
Lolo Jones is expected to medal in the 100 meter hurdles.
Mulatto Nation is not officially recognized by the Olympic Committee, any other nation, or the media, but we're still hoping to have a good medal count!
